Jules Verne

Famed and acclaimed French Science Fiction genius Jules Verne has kept the world spellbound long after his death!  Born in Nantes, France, in 1828, an often hailed as "The Father of Science Fiction", Verne began to write at a young age, composing short stories and poetry as a child in boarding school.  Verne's father, Pierre Verne, a lawyer and pious Roman Catholic, sent Verne to law school in Paris, though this was not what Verne himself wanted out of life.

Verne met famous writer Alexandre Dumas and befriended his son in school as well.  His big break came when he befriended Victor Hugo and his publisher and really lit his writing career on fire.
